Vesak this month, celebrating the birth, enlightenment and death of Buddha. A good month track leopards and elephants in Yala National Park as the weather continues to improve and provide them with more sunshine to bathe in.
A month the monsoon generally consists of short, sharp showers and usually disappear as quickly as they start.

August is an inter-monsoon month, so you can expect the odd short shower but the weather is generally wonderful all round.

November monsoon is generally heavier than the monsoon earlier in the year and unpredictable changes over the years.

Water Sports
Heading to areas such as Galle where there is more than a beach to explore is a good idea. November is, in general, one of the wettest months to travel to Sri Lanka, beaches can be most wonderful at this time.
December can be a fantastic time to travel. The weather can be hot, dry and sunny across the country and you can expect wonderful beach weather over this Christmas period.
